BIG BEND - Both Fort Davis National Historic site and Bend National Park are closed due to the government shutdown. A spokesperson at BBNP said despite the government shutdown, emergency services are still available.
According to BBNP, 99 percent of the park’s visitors are gone as of Tuesday, while the very few remaining have 48 hours to make arrangements and leave. The main park entrance is closed, but law enforcement Park Rangers will continue to patrol. The only fully-paved road which traverses South Brewster County runs through the park.
