Services Friday for former commissioner

EL PASO - William Allen Gearhart died Nov. 4, 2013, in an El Paso hospital. Born Sep. 9, 1946, he was 67 years old. A recent resident of Cloudcroft, NM, most of his life was spent ranching in Montana and Valentine. He attended school in Valentine and the New Mexico Military Institute. He also spent two years serving in the United States Army. With strong family ties and values, he shared his abilities with cattle organizations, his community and church. He was a past director of the Montana Cattleman's Association and served several terms as a Jeff Davis County Commissioner. He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church and a director for 30 years at the Marfa National Bank. After moving to Cloudcroft he joined the Cloudcroft United Methodist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. Preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Mary Martha Gearhart, and sister Tai Gearhart, he is survived by his wife Marsha, son Paul, and the love of his life, granddaughter Bethanee. In addition he is survived by his sister Jessica Mcinnis and her husband Bill; nephew Ben Mcinnis and wife Rachel; niece Rachel Myers and husband Scott, and four great nephews Levi and Ty Mcinnis and Brooks and Reece Myers. A memorial service will be at the First Presbyterian Church in Marfa on Nov. 15 at 11 a.m. after a private interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Presbyterian Children's Home in Austin or West Texas Boy's Ranch in San Angelo.
