David Ohlsen, 70, dies here on Jan. 18

FORT DAVIS - Retired Army Chief Warrant Officer David “Pop” Lester Ohlsen, 70 of Fort Davis died at his home Jan. 18, 2014. He was born Sept. 6, 1943, in Davenport, IA to Albert and Ethel Ohlsen. He served two tours in Vietnam and one in Korea, retiring from the U.S. Army in 1983. To his family he left behind a legacy built on integrity, loyalty and love. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ethel Ohlsen of Davenport and his loving wife of 36 years, Sandra Ohlsen. He is survived by his brother Michael Ohlsen of Davenport, IA, four sons and daughters-in-law, David and Lynn Ohlsen of San Antonio, Jeremy Ohlsen and Dana Sanchez of Fort Davis, Shawn and Sharon Ohlsen of Midland, and Greg and Lillie Ohlsen of Midland. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ryan Ohlsen and Kelly Ohlsen of North Carolina, Gregory Ohlsen, Shawn Ohlsen and Sandra “Shy” Ohlsen all of Midland, his dear friend and partner Sandra Southworth of Fort Davis, several honorary grandchildren and friends. At his request, there will be a private family service. His services were entrusted to Alpine Memorial Funeral Home.
