Chuck Fellers

JEFF DAVIS COUNTY - Charles (Chuck) Fellers, 97of Jeff Davis County, died Feb. 7, 2014. His wife Shirley preceded him in death. He is survived by his brother Don Fellers of Napa, Cal., daughter Eileen Miller of Cottonwood, Cal., son Michael Fellers and wife Leslie of Kalispell, Mont. and daughter Karen Fellers, grandson Darell Fellers and wife Marti of Fort Davis. His nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren along with countless friends will all miss him. He was a World War II veteran, California forester, Boy Scout leader, apple rancher, high school teacher, community and church volunteer, a loving husband, father and  good friend. Sharing a love for the outdoors with his wife Shirley took them traveling, hiking, birding and camping. When they retired they came to the Big Bend and the Davis Mountains and hand built their homes. They were instrumental in starting the first fire department in the Davis Mountains Resort with Chuck as the co-fire chief. They picked up trash along the highways, campgrounds, hiking trails and volunteered at Fort Davis National Historic Site. His ashes will be placed next to his wife with a private family gathering.
