Services in San Antonio for Mary Frances West

SAN ANTONIO - Mary Frances West died March 14, 2014, in San Antonio. West’s maternal grandfather, W.F. Mitchell, was a pioneer West Texas rancher. Born to Herschel and Katherine Mitchell Hord on Nov. 18, 1923, in Alpine, she had an older sister, Elizabeth Hord, and a younger brother, Herschel Frank Hord. Soon after her birth, the family moved to Marfa, where she grew up and attended Marfa Public Schools. After graduating from Marfa High School, she attended Stephens College, the University of Colorado and the University of Texas at El Paso. From her marriage in 1946 to Albert Washington “Tito” West, the couple enjoyed more than a half a century of loving partnership. She also found time to be an active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, the San Antonio Country Club, The Battle of Flowers, the March of Dimes, the San Antonio Junior League and the Argyle Club. She was preceded in life everlasting by her brother, sister, and parents, by her husband Albert Washington West III, and by two of her sons, Albert “Cuatro” and Chris West. She is survived by four sons and daughter in laws; Bill and ScarletteWest , Mitch and Elizabeth West, Jim and Martha West and Randy and Linda West and Isabelle and Ed Badouh; 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, admirers and friends. Memlorial services were March 17 at the Alamo Heights United Methodist Church in San Antonio.
