Services here Tuesday for Felix Rivera, Jr., 57

ODESSA - Felix Rivera, Jr. "Hawk-eye", 57 of Odessa and a Fort Davis native, died Aug. 10, 2014, at his residence in Odessa, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Alpine May 5, 1957, to Felix Rivera, Sr. and Martha (Rodriguez) Martinez. He lived life to the fullest. Through the hard times that he faced, he never gave up. He loved to be around his friends, whether out on a hunting trip or helping out with the horses. He would never say "No" to lending a hand whenever anyone needed help. Survivors include his mother: Martha Martinez of Odessa; father Felix Rivera, Sr. of Fort Davis; siblings Betty Urbanczyk of Washington state, Jean Cruz of Odessa, Joe Frank Rivera of Odessa, Jerry Rivera and wife Claudia of Alpine, Phillip Martinez and wife Cherri of Odessa, Tina Glines and husband Terry of Odessa, Johnathan Rivera of Alpine, Felix Rivera of Midland and Margaret Estrada and husband Pete of Odessa; 14 nephews and four nieces; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by his special friend who never left his side, who stuck by him until his last breath, Cruz Castillo "Bebe" and his wife Laura of Odessa. Mass Celebration was in Fort Davis at St. Joseph Catholic Church Aug. 12. Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery in Fort Davis. Pallbearers were Cruz Castillo II, Jorge Acosta, Frank "Panchito" Hartnett, Ernest Martinez, Greg Madrid and Pete Estrada. The family thanks Home Hospice and the team at Medical Center Hospital's ICU for all of their help during his battle with cancer.
