Wilma Christine Fort

LOVINGTON, NM - Services were at the Lovington United Methodist Church in Lovington, NM, for Wilma Christine Fort, who died Nov. 3, 2014. She was born June 12, 1915, to Laura and Arleigh Cooper in Lockney. She was a graduate of Texas State College for Women, now Texas Womens University, in Denton in 1936. She taught music and english in Olton and in Prairieview, NM. She married R.P. (Buddy) Fort May 24, 1938. They ranched at Caprock, NM, and later years moved to Lovington. She served on the board of trusteers at ther Methodist church in Tatum, NM and was active in Bible study at the Methodist church in Lovington, bridge clubs and as a member of the Cowbells. She was the sweetheart of the oldtimers cowboy association. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Tamara Good, in 2008. Survivors include daughter Penny and husband Sonny McElroy of Fort Davis; son-in-law Bill Frank Good of Midland; a sister, Arlene Bogard of Las Cruces, NM; grandchildren Shauna and husband Dr. Bob Cobb, Shay Good and wife Amie, Clay Good and wife Lesley, Tres McElroy and wife Jody of Jeff Davis County, Misty Williams and husband Lynn, Christy Barksdale and husband Joe; great grandchildren Sawyer and Crosby Cobb, Sage and Bradi Good, Graisyn Cobb, Brysen Good, Mayle Chambliss and husband Tray, Meecedes and Jhett Williams, Savanna and Sidney Barksdale.
