Services Saturday at DMR for Mac Brevard

FORT DAVIS - Horace E. "Mac" Brevard, Jr., a longtime property ownerand resident of the Davis Mountains Resort, died April 8, 2015, at the age of 92. He was born in Gilmer on June 3, 1922, and grew up in East Texas, McAllen and Fort Worth before his family settled in Houston. A graduate of Lamar High School and Rice University, he served in the U.S. Army as an Artillery Officer in the 41st Infantry Division in WWII. He met his wife, Georgia Marie Wert, while recuperating from serious wounds he had received in combat. The couple were married from Aug. 11, 1946, until Georgia’s death on Oct. 14, 2012. He is survived by his sister Anne Mattingly, his children Laurence, Richard, Theresa and James, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be May 2 at 11 am at the DMR Community Church, 500 Tomahawk Trail, Fort Davis. He served as an EMT in the DMR Volunteer Fire Department for 16 years.
