Highway conditions improve in Oklahoma Panhandle after blowing snow

by Darrel James

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has indicated US 287 is back open with lanes in Cimarron and Texas County in the Oklahoma panhandle. “North and southbound US-287 is now open in Cimarron County and roads are beginning to clear in both Cimarron and western Texas Counties. However, crews will continue to monitor and treat as needed as melted snow may refreeze creating slick spots. Drivers should use caution traveling in this area in the overnight as temperatures drop,” reported the department in a traffic advisory.
