Evan Hall from Valentine won the reserve stock horse division

Evan Hall from Valentine won the reserve stock horse division and was third in the western horse division at the Texas 4-H district show. She is headed to the state horse show in July in Abilene in both the stock horse and western horse divisions of competition

Roman, Huffman represent Fort Davis in Big Bend cast of Annie Get Your Gun

BIG BEND - The Theatre of the Big Bend's performance of "Annie Get Your Gun" begins a four-weekend run this Friday, June 26. Irving Berlin's popular musical will be performed through July 19 in the San Antonio Livestock Exposition (S.A.L.E.) Arena at Sul Ross State University's Turner Range Animal Science Center. "Annie" will celebrate ToBB's 50th year and is a reprise of the 2006 production that set attendance records.

“Big Bend Plein Air,” an exhibition and sale of art from the Plein Air Painters of the Four Corners, opened June 19 at the Museum of the Big Bend at Sul Ross State University. The exhibit will remain on display until Sunday, Aug. 30.

Griffin's first service this month at St. Paul's

MARFA – St. Paul's Episcopal Church Marfa and Bishop's Warden David Suddeth announce the appointment of the Reverend Jeremiah Griffin as its new Vicar. Fr. Griffin joined St. Paul's on June 1, leading his first service on June 7. Fr. Griffin comes to St. Paul's Marfa from Trinity Episcopal Church in downtown Galveston where he served as Curate and also held a dual position of executive director of the William Temple Episcopal Student Center, a campus ministry for a nearby medical school.

Workshop targets management of quail June 19-20 at Sul Ross Espino Center

In response to interest from landowners in learning more about the ecology and management of quail species in the Trans- Pecos Region of Texas, the Borderlands Research Institute at Sul Ross State University has partnered with Texas Parks and Wildlife, the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the Texas Wildlife Association to host a Desert Quail Management Workshop June 19-20 at the Espino Conference Center on the SRSU Alpine campus.

Midland officer remembered at law enforcement memorial

U.S. Congressman Will Hurd of San Antonio saluted fallen law enforcement officers at the Big Bend Area Law Enforcement Officers Association memorial May 27 on the Sul Ross State University campus mall. Hurd, a former CIA officer who represents Texas' 23rd district, was the keynote speaker at the eighth annual memorial.
