El Paso's thirst for more water sources doesn't include Jeff Davis County for now

EL PASO and FAR WEST TEXAS - Federal and state dollars continue to pour into bone-dry El Paso, with a new $50 million grant approval the latest in that city's attempt at broadening its water sources.  And while that money will be used to put more straws into Hudspeth and Culberson counties, it is still a long shot that El Paso will  reach back into Jeff Davis County to drain water from land it owns between  Valentine and Marfa.

Moreland, Adams headline Chamber's gift to Fort Davis

The Fort Davis Chamber of Commerce's gift to Fort Davis will have a distinctive Fort Davis feel to it - two of the four headliners for the Viva Big Bend event in Fort Davis have strong ties to Jeff Davis County. Doug Moreland grew up here and will open the daylong event - he's followed by Texas music legend Jay Boy Adams and then come a couple of acts from Austin and San Antonio - the Chubby Knuckle Choir and Mitch Webb and the Swindles. The Chamber is sponsoring the all-day free concert at the Audrey and Tyrone Kelly Outdoor Theatre behind The Union this Saturday in Fort Davis. The music starts at 1 pm and everyone is invited to come out and enjoy the concerts. Bring ice chests with your choice of beverage - there will be booths with food but folks are allowed to bring whatever they wish to the free concerts.
