Cook announces Aug. 31 retirement

VALENTINE -After 36 years in the school business, Valentine Superintendent Doug Cook has decided to retire. The administrator for the last seven years of the Valentine Independent School District told the school board Tuesday night he will retire at the end of his current contract, which ends Aug. 31 of this year.

Mclvors moving to San Angelo; Lamars going to Aleutian Islands

FORT DAVIS - It was fruit basket turnover for Fort Davis school trustees Monday night - resignations by three key teachers and the apparent loss of one or two of the top Fort Davis student athletes from the Tndian athletic program were announced. Meanwhile, Jeff Davis County Sheriff Rick Meclvor is in San Angelo, where his family is moving, at the hospital where he is tending to a growing list of medical concerns. He is scheduled to have a surgical procedure for a small tumor near his pituitary on Jan. 21.

After three decades, Blevins will retire

After 30 years of dedicated service to The High Frontier, Barry Blevins has decided to retire, leaving as executive director of the facility just outside Fort Davis. Blevins has been considering this transition for about a year and said he look forward to spending more time with his family.

It was 2008 when Crain Coffey and Gary Aufdengarten of Fort Davis exhibited their pigs in the Big Bend Livestock Show. This year´s show starts at 9 tomorrow morning with the Lambs.

Kinzie will serve as interim director

The Board of Directors of the Fort Davis Chamber of Commerce is asking native son Randall Kinzie to take over as interim director of the chamber for much of 2016 or until a new director con be named.

Decorations at Fort should get everyone in the holiday spirit
