Mary Rebecca Byrd Teery

Mary Rebecca Byrd Terry was born in San Angelo on March 23, 1930. After a childhood spent on their family ranch in Sterling City, she attended the Honckaday School in Dallas. Upon graduation, she attended the University of Texas in Austin, where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She married King Terry, Jr. in 1949, and began a journey with her soulmate that would result in a love affair that lasted 62 years. Their partnership was larger that life. He was a rancher and a war hero. She was a dancer, scholar and a reflection of light.

ALPINE - Glenda Nell Browning, 72 of Alpine, died at her residence Dec. 22, 2015 . She was born in Gorman on Feb. 19, 1943, to W.C. and Blanche Browning. She had been a receptionist at the Sunday House Hotel in AIpine.

Services Dec. 10 for Mary Alice Kennedy

FORTDAVIS- Mary Alice Garcia Kennedy, 67 a lifelong resident of the Gila Valley of Arizona, died Dec. 4, 2015 in El Paso. She was born in Florence, AZ on Dec. 30, 1947, the daughter of Arthur and Helen Romero. She worked as a cook for the Arizona Prison System. She was predeceased by mother and father, her younger sister, Bernice Romero; and her grandson, Lil David Corral.

Mast services Dec. 19 in Alpine First Baptist

ALPINE- Dayna Yarborough Mast died Dec. 14, 2015. Memorial services were Dec. 19 at the First Baptist Church in Alpine. A reception followed. Her services were overseen by Alpine Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Mast was born July 30, 1954, in Lubbock. She grew up in Midland and later resided in Alpine. She graduated from Southwest Texas State University and after college worked as a counselor for at-risk teens.

Mary Lou Viertel Hall

HOUSTON - Mary Lou Viertel Hall, 84, of Sugarland died Dec. 4, 2015, at MD Anderson. A family visitation was Dec. 13 at Dannel  Funeral Home in Sherman. Funeral services were Dec. 14 at First United Methodist Church in Tom Bean with Pastor Donnie Haywood officiating. Interment followed White Mound Cemetery.

Services in Fort Davis for Jack Longbotham

Dr. Jack Henry Longbotham,85 of Clyde died Nov. 28, 2015, in Brownwood . Funeral services were Dec. 4 at First Baptist Church, Fort Davis with Terrell O' Brien officiating. Burial was at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Fort Davis. Arrangements were by The Hamil Family Funeral Home in Abilene. Mr. Longbotham was born in Snyder to Bernard Sr. and Connie Longbotham on June 5, 1930. He married Elisabeth Prude on Sep. 10, 1955, in Fort Davis. He graduated with a bachelor of science degree from Texas Tech University in 1952, a Master's degree from Sul Ross State University in 1957, and a doctorate from Texas A & M in 1968.

Tom Robison, 76, dies here on Thanksgiving Day; services Sunday

FORT DAVIS - Thomas Max "Tom" Robison of Fort Davis died Nov. 26, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Thomas Max "Tom" Robison was born May 22, 1939, in San Angelo to L. Miller Robison and Eda Schneemann Robison. He attended Ozona Elementary School and then Marfa High School which he graduated from in 1957. Afterwards he attended West Texas State University and Sul Ross State University.

Martha "Marty" Sykes Hansen

Hansen dies Oct. 21 in vehicle accident

LINCOLN, VT & FORTDAVIS - Martha "Marty" Sykes Hansen was born Aug. 18, 1936, to Vera Paschal Sykes and Fred Sykes. She spent her childhood on her parents' farm in LaPorte, IN. On her way to Fort Davis, she was killed in Erie, Penn., in an accident Oct. 21, 2015. She attended boarding school at Olney Friends School in Barnesville, OH. She then went on to study environmental biology and earn her bachelor's degree at Earlham College in Richmond, IN. After school she served in the Peace Corps and then went on to earn her Master's degree at Michigan State.

Donald Mulhern dies in church on Sunday

ALPINE – Donald Joseph Mulhern, 87 of Alpine, died suddenly at church last Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, of a coronary occlusion with immediate cardiac arrest. This followed a wonderful birthday celebration the evening before at the Alpine Country Club for four members of Holy Cross Anglican Church. Included in those members were Mr. Mulhern and Father Eugene Myrick, his longtime friend and companion. Many family members and friends from afar attended. Mr. Mulhern, a Master’s graduate of the University of Texas, El Paso, was the retired assistant superintendent of the El Paso Public School System. He was elected to an honorary life membership in the Texas Association of School Business Officials. He loved Alpine, Fort Davis and its environment and had lived in Alpine for nearly 20 years. Along with Father Myrick, the two were named Citizens of the Year in 2002 under the auspices of the Alpine Chamber of Commerce. He was also past president of the Alpine Rotary Club.
