Services were Jan. 18 for Alice C. Brooks, 85

FORT DAVIS – Alice C. Brooks, 85 of Fort Davis, died at her residence Jan. 14, 2014. Services were Jan. 18 at the First Baptist Church in Fort Davis. Burial followed at the Hillcrest Cemetery. Alpine Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Brooks was born in Plainview on Feb. 12, 1928. She had worked as a teacher's aide for the Fort Davis Independent School District. She is survived by her husband, Gerald Brooks of Fort Davis, daughters; Raylene Miller of Fort Davis, Vonda Neally of Carlsbad; sons; Milton Brooks of Mena, AR, Robby Brooks of San Angelo, Billy Goetz of Mereta, Randy Brooks of Papillion, NE, Heath Brooks of Sheffield; her sisters Georgia Brisbane of San Angelo, Louise Botts of Kingman, AZ, brothers; Bob McCallick of San Angelo, Dan Soch of Oklahoma City, OK , 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services to be planned for Mary Kokernot Lacy

WACO - Mary Ann Kokernot Lacy, 91 of Waco, died Jan. 12, 2014, in Waco. The mother of Chris Lacy of Fort Davis and daughter of the late H.L. Kokernot, will be remembered in services in Waco and at a later date in the Big Bend. No other details were available at presstime. Arrangements are by the Wilkerson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home of Waco.

Services here Dec. 30 for Graviel Salcido, 75

FORT DAVIS - Graviel G. Salcido, 75 of Fort Davis died Dec. 24, 2013, in Fort Davis. Rosary was recited Dec. 29 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Davis. Funeral mass was Dec. 30 at the church with Father Miguel Alcuino officiating. Holy burial followed the mass in the St Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Fort Davis. Funeral services were by Memorial Funeral Home of Fort Stockton. Mr. Salcido was born on Sep. 3, 1938, in Alpine to Carmen Gallegos and Graviel Salcido. He was a ranch foreman and member of the Catholic church. He is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Jonathon Chance Salcido. He is survived by his wife Herminia Salcido of Fort Davis; three sons Juan Salcido of Alpine, Gabriel Salcido III of Fort Davis and Lorenzo Salcido of Roswell, NM; three sisters, Olivia G. Salgado of Roswell, NM, Ramona G. Seymoure of Fort Worth and Jo Anne G. Sanchez of Monahans; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Services are at 4 today for Markki Holguin, 24

KELLER - Markki Alyssa Holguin died Dec. 2, 2013, after a yearlong battle. She was 24 years old. Service is at 4 p.m. today at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church in Keller. She was a young lady with a laugh that was contagious and a smile that lit up the world. Her love was overflowing and touched the lives of many. She loved to play the guitar and piano and loved all genres of music, even music that was way before her time. Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Melba and Craig Palmour of North Richland Hills; dad Michael Holguin of Odessa; stepmother Paula Holguin of Odessa; brother Dillon Holguin of Odessa; siste, Rylli Ann Palmour of College Station; brother Ryan Palmour of North Richland Hills; grandparents Mary Alice and Gilbert Villareal of Keller, Lydia and Jim Allen of Fort Davis and Betty and Henry Holguin of Odessa; aunts and uncles Sondra and Toby Eoff of Odessa, and Shelly and Jeff Villareal of Keller; and many extended family members.
