Sam Esqueda

Sam Esqueda, 79 of Alpine, died at his residence Sep. 2, 2014. A Memorial Service will be at 10 today at Holy Cross Anglican Church in Alpine with Rev. Father Robert Jordon officiating. A Masonic funeral and burial will be at 1 p.m., Sep. 12 at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso. Alpine Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Esqueda was born in Presidio to Jesus and Maria Esqueda. He had retired as crew chief for American Airlines after 24 years of service. He served in both the Air Force and retired from the Navy. He was Past Master of Wallace Hughston Lodge #1393, El Paso, member of Frontier Lodge #766, Alpine, also member of El Paso Scottish Rite.

Leslie Trammell

FORT DAVIS - Leslie Roxanne Trammell, 35 of Fort Davis and formerly of Columbus, died at her home in the Davis Mountain Resort Aug. 22, 2014, after a lengthy illness. Graveside services will be today at 11 am in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Fort Davis with Dennis Trammell officiating. Graveside services entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of  ort Stockton. She was born Jan. 2, 1979, at Seton Center in Austin to Samuel R. and Donna Trammell. She was a 4-H and FFA member in Columbus and a collegiate FFA member at Sul Ross State University. She showed cattle, horses and goats for many years and had won many awards. She earned the Lone Star Farmer Award in 1997. She received both her bachelor's and Master's degrees in Animal Science from SRSU. She was most recently employed at Poco Mexico Restaurant in Fort Davis. She was a loving daughter, niece, cousin, and friend who will be greatly missed but will remain forever in our hearts. She is preceded in death by her her father, Samuel R.

Hugh Howard

MARFA – Hugh Espy Howard died Aug. 19, 2014. He was born March 1, 1934, in El Paso to the late Gay Howard and Ruth Espy Howard. His parents were lifelong residents of the Marfa community. He was the grandson to the late George A. and Ella Howard who assisted in the establishment of Presidio County, and J.W. and Lola Espy who helped settle Jeff Davis County. Hugh Howard or better known as "Hughie" to his friends and family graduated from Marfa High School where he played football and basketball. He remained loving sports throughout his life, particularly the Marfa Shorthorns, Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs. He cherished the moments he was able to be with his family and watch a sporting event. He was a rancher and was part of Howard Mobil his entire life. He was a member of the First Christian Church, and also enjoyed attending church with his family at Grace Fellowship Worship in Alpine.

Dora Granado Lujan

Dora Granado Lujan, 98 and a longtime Fort Davis resident, died in El Paso May 22, 2014. She had been a resident at Regent Health Care Center for the past three years in El Paso. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Caldelario D. Granado, her parents Frank and Nestora Webster, all her brothers and sisters and two infant daughters, ana Maruia and Viviana Granado. Survivors include four children, Jimmy (Tencha) Granado of Clifornia, Rudy Granado of Alpine, Tensie (Johnny) Granado of El Paso, and Ruben (Leila) Granado of El Paso; 14 grandchildren, 26 great granchildren and six great, great grandchildren. Services were in Fort Davis with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Fort Davis
