Eliseo Calderon

ALPINE - Eliseo B. Calderon, 84 of Alpine, died Jan. 8, 2015. Born in Valentine Sep. 23, 1930, he was raised there and later joined the US Army, serving in Korea in the infantry. He married Olivia Vallejo in 1949, and the two were married 62 years before her death. He worked for many years with the Southern Pacific Railroad, now the Union Pacific, retiring and moving to Alpine, where he drove a bus for the Alpine school district. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, brothers Richard Calderon and Ernesto Calderon and sisters Virginia Vallejo and Faye Segura. Survivors include a daughter, Jessica Monclova and her husband Randy Monclova; three grandchildren, Reymundo, Rudolfo and Elizabeth Monclova; a great granddaughter, Aaliyah Monclova; brothers Mike Calderon and Raymond Calderon; and a sister-in-law, Estes Calderon. Rosary will be at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine Friday night at 7, with funeral mass at 10 am, Saturday, Jan. 17 at the church. Full military burial services will follow at Holy Angels Cemetery in Alpine.
