Dorothy Josephine

Dorothy Josephine (Posusta) Ernhart died Aug. 26, 2015, at the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo at the age of 98. Immediately prior to her death she lived independently in Bemidji, MN. She was born Oct. 6, 1916, near Lester Prairie, MN to Joseph and Mathilda (Emme) Posusta. She graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1935 and married Frank Ernhart on Sep. 19, 1939, in Silver Lake. This union was blessed with five children: Kenneth, Lenus, Patti, Jean and Ronald. Together they farmed near Winsted , Waverly and finally Silver Lake until 1962. In 1963, they purchased the Fran- Dora Pines Resort on Lake George, which they operated until 1974. Mrs. Ernhart loved to dance and she and Frank belonged to square dancing clubs in Cokato and Park Rapids. She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, quilting and playing cards. She was active and served as an officer with several organizations including garden and homemakers clubs and the Lake George Senior Center. She was a faithful member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids. She also volunteered for many years at various locations including Wholesome Harvest, the Assessment Clinic, Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), and was Nutrition Site Manager at the Lake George Senior Center and at River Heights in Park Rapids. She is survived by sons Kenneth (Ann) of Cabot, AR, Lenus (Angela) of Fort Davis; daughters Patti (Jim) Lee of Custer, SD, and Jean (John) Mathweg of Bemidji, MN; daughter-in-law Marlys of Park Rapids, MN; and a brother, Raymond of Dassel, MN; along with 14 grandchildren: Wayne Ernhart, Paul Ernhart, Cindi Kalpac, Kevin Ernhart, Rodney Ernhart, Laura Cheri, Fred Cordova, Andy Cordova, Debbie Springman, Dan Ernhart, Sarah Ernhart, Darren Mathweg, Mike Mathweg, Jen Vandermeer; 27 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; a son, Ronald; brothers Wilfred and Irvan; and sisters Evelyn, Lenora and Myrtle. Funeral service were Aug. 29 at the St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids, MN with Father Tom Freidl officiating. The organist was Joy Horejsi and the mass music was led by the Alleluia Choir. A Poetic eulogy was delivered by granddaughter Laura Cheri and the song “Taste and See” was sung by her grandson-in-law, Kevin Cheri, both formerly of Fort Davis. The casketbearers were all of her grandchildren. Interment was at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Park Rapids, MN.
