Rusty Crawford

CENTER - Rusty Crawford, former president of Fort Davis State Bank, died Sep. 16, 2015. Charles Thurman "Rusty" Crawford was born Nov. 30, 1940, in Center to Thurman Jesse "T.J." Crawford and Hazel (Andrews) Crawford. He graduated from Garrison High School in 1959 and received his BBA from Stephen F. Austin State University. He worked in the banking industry for many years, serving and leading banks in Tenaha, Timpson, Fort Davis, Archer City and Center. He later became an insurance agent with Shelby County Farm Bureau and retired in 2012. Anyone who spent more than a few minutes talking with Rusty knew that he was extremely proud of his family. Other than working on the farm, his most cherished time was that spent with them. In 1991, he married Marie (Clark) Crawford. Together, they spoiled their grandchildren as often as possible and traveled the world from South Africa to Canada. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Ted Crawford and wife Dee of Rockwall and Dean Crawford of Hillsborough, New Jersey, stepdaughter Beth Carls of Austin, granddaughters Courtney Kinnear and husband, Matt, of Rockwall and Cassedy Crawford of Austin; grandsons Drew Carls and wife Stephanie of Austin and Weston Carls and wife Natalie, of Austin; great-grandsons Chase and Carson of Austin; sisters Helen Ingram and husband Ed of Austin and Karen Crawford of Newport Beach, Cal.; brothers Jim Crawford and wife Pat of Garrison and Joe Crawford of The Woodlands and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends A celebration of life will be Oct. 3 from 2 - 5 p.m. at the San Augustine Chamber of Commerce Log Cabin at 611 W. Columbia St. San Augustine, Texas 75972 In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Christ Church Episcopal in San Augustine, the SFA Alumni Scholarship Fund or the charity of your choice.
